Half human- half demon, Inuyasha desires the Shikon Jewel for his own unknown reasons. He wields his fathers sword Tetsusaiga, made from a fang given to Totosai who forged it into a sword left to Inuyasha by his father.
Inuyasha later falls in love with Kikyo, the priestess bestowed with the task of guarding the Shikon Jewel, after Naraku deceives Kikyo and Inuyasha to try and gain the jewel, he wounds Kikyo and she, believing it was Inuyasha, pinned him to a tree where he was to remain for 50 years, until Kagome released him from the spell.
Inuyasha is able to transform into a full demon when he is separated from the Tetusuaiga and he is un-stoppable when he attacks. He has taken on his father’s old enemy Reukotse, and he has defeated him in doing so he gained the attack known as Backlash Wave. He battled a pack of bat demons and rescued a half human half demon girl from them, in doing so Inuyasha gained the power to change the blade of Tetsusaiga red thus doubling its power. Inuyasha has since encountered Shiori, another half-demon, he ws supposed to slay her and allow the Tetsusaiga to drink her blood, but Inuyasha simply didn't have it in him, Shiroi allowed Inuyasha to destroy a sphere that she was supposed to guard for her grandfather, and the Tetsusaiga has since grown much stronger. Inuyasha has "joined forces" with Sesshomaru to kill Naraku, but was unable to do so. However, Naraku was severely injured after the attack.

Miroku is the lecherous monk with a Wind Tunnel in his right hand due to an inherited curse bestowed upon his blood line by Naraku, Miroku joins Inuyasha in the hopes that he will some day rid himself of the curse.
Although he never lets it get him down in his never ending quest for a woman to bear him a son. Miroku has since fallen for Sango, but still goes after other women, for the moment.

Sesshomaru is Inuyasha's pure demon half brother bent on seeing his demise. His never ending quest for the sword that Inuyasha possesses, he will stop at nothing to get it, unable to grasp the Tetsusiga, he employs human arms that he collects from the dead, after losing his left arm in a battle against Inuyasha inside their fathers tomb.

He teams up with Naraku in an attempt to kill Inuyasha and his friends, He later wields the sword Tokijin crafted from the teeth of one of Naraku's incarnations, it was crafted by Totosai's apprentice Kaijinbo, who was cast out because the weapons that he made were not pure and were used only for destruction.

Kagome is a 15 year old girl who lives in Japan with her family on the Higurashi shrine. She falls into an old well called The Bone Eaters Well and winds up in the Feudal Era of Japan 50 years in the past, she runs into Inuyasha in a forest near her family’s shrine, or where it will be at least. She is being chased my Mistress Centipede and she is pinned th the tree and Inuyasha is awoken and she removes the arrow to release Inuyasha and save herself and the villagers.
She later discovers that she is the reincarnation of y, and realizes that she has priestly powers that she uses to aid Inuyasha and the others in their quest for the Jewel, after firing an arrow at a crow who had swallowed the jewel, the arrow had hit the jewel and shattered it into many tiny shards, thus beginning their journey to gather them all. Kagome found herself traped in a cave designed to harnes and steal a priestess' powers. Kagome ran into Kikyo in the cave and saw that she was almost dead from the affects of the cave but after fusing the 3 shards of the jewel together she and Kikyo survived the cave and Kagome gained another shard from Kikyo.

Born of Onigumo 50 years before Kagome journeys to the Feudal Era, he offered his body to the demons after being immobilized in an accident, he becomes the mysterious Naraku. Able to change shapes at will, he transformed into Inuyasha and deceived Kikyo and stole the jewel from her. He also battled Miroku's grandfather and cursed him and his family with the Wind Tunnel. He is a very wicked demon who has slaughtered countless millions and will not stop until he is destroyed.

He also takes control of Kohaku, Sango's younger brother, in an attempt to set them against each other.

Naraku later creates 3 reincarnations of himself using the jewel in an attempt to kill Inuyasha and his friends, his evil knows no bounds. Naraku has created 4 incarnations of himself, Kaugra, Kanna, Gojenki, and Muso.

Kagura is credited with doing Naraku's spy work. Kanna is credited with hitting Inuyasha with the Wind Scar attack when it was reflected from her mirror. Gojenki is credited with breaking the Tetsusaiga when he bit it in half. Muso was formed when Naraku tried to expel Onigumo's heart from his body, when Muso turned on Naraku after he tried to er-absorb him and take back Onigumo's heart. He later does this in a surprise attack on Muso.

Kagura is a wind sorceress, she has the power to control the wind around her with her fan, she can also re-animate the dead for a short time.

Kanna is able to absorb people’s souls into her mirror and they in turn become her zombie slaves.

Gojenki was able to read the thoughts of whom ever he chooses, he used this when he battled Inuyasha and the others, Inuyasha transformed for the first time after Gojenki broke the Tetsusaiga.

Muso was able to consume the faces of others and he was also able to regenerate his body after an attack and change its shape.

Naraku was attacked by Inuyasha and Sesshomaru, Naraku was attempting to absorb Sesshomaru and gain his powers after kidnapping Rin, but Inuyasha showed up and the two of them severely injured Naraku and he fled.

Kaede is the younger sister to Kikyo, she aids Inuyasha and Kagome in their quest. She is wise and often stubborn, but she manages to stay demons away from the village, and keep the peace.

Kikyo is the shrine maiden who bound Inuyasha to the tree and is bestowed with the responsibility of guarding the jewel from demons; she sacrifices her own life to keep the Shikon jewel form returning to the realm of the living.

She is later reborn in her old body due to the priestess Urasue and she is doomed to wander, gathering the souls of the dead women in order to keep herself alive to fulfill her quest to kill Inuyasha who she still believes betrayed her.

She was not always against Inuyasha, in the beginning she loved him, and she was willing to use the Shikon jewel to transform Inuyasha into a mortal, thus ending her duty to protect the jewel, but Naraku had deceived them and Kikyo died believing that Inuyasha had betrayed her.

Kikyo has since encountered an old man who used to associate himself with Onigumo, before his accident, he had told Kikyo that Onigumo had tried to steal his men and he hunted him down and blew up the hut that Onigumo was in thus causing his severe burns.
